History

The idea to create the SES Nations Organisation, originated at the Calgary Winter Olympic Games. There was a need to create a body made up of members of small ski nations with in the International Ski Federation whose aim would be to look after the interests of Federations who do not have top athletes of organise big events with in Europe.

It took a few years to convince the Presidents of the various Federations to the idea of the SES (Small European Ski) Nations and the first meeting with the interested Federations was held in Montreux (SUI) in 1990.

The results of this meeting were that we proceed with the formation of the SES and Luxembourg undertook to register the Organisation there.

The Founding Meeting was held in Luxembourg in July 1991 and founding Member Federations were AND - BEL - CYP - ISL - LUX - MON - POR - RSM - IRE.

The 1st SES Cup Competitions were held in Cyprus in 1990.

In 1994 ALG - LIB - MAR - RSA were accepted as affiliated Members.

Because the above Countries are not European, thoughts were made to create a new organisation, which would incorporate also non-European, but small ski nations. The original idea was to create this new body in Monaco, but after the refusal of Monaco to undertake this task, it was unanimously decided to create this body in Cyprus.

The SES Ski Nations Ltd was finally registered in Cyprus on the 13/2/1998. The Founding Meeting was held in Luzern (SUI).

This is the 1st International Sport Organisation, which is registered in Cyprus and operates under Cyprus Law.

A 5 Member elected Executive Committee governs the SES.

During the Annual General Meeting held in Melbourne AUS in May 2000 Hungary became a Full Member of the SES Ski Nations Ltd.
